WE GIVE THE GIFT OF MOBILITY Mobility Worldwide (formerly Personal Energy Transportation, or PET) is an organization dedicated to providing mobility via a three-wheeled, all terrain wheelchair, operated by hand power. Built by a faith-based, non-profit, volunteer organization, Mobility Carts are delivered at no cost to people in developing countries who have lost the use of their legs due to birth defects, disease, diabetes, spinal cord injuries, landmines, or war.
OUR MISSION Our mission is to provide Mobility Carts, specialty wheelchairs, at no cost to qualified individuals with disabilities who live in poor and underdeveloped countries and who have no appropriate means of mobility by:
- Operating a manufacturing site to construct Mobility Carts
- Educating the public about the need and recruiting volunteers and donors
- Raising funds to support the construction and delivery of the vehicles
- Distributing the carts to the international agencies/sponsors to gift to applicants
THEY NEED US
The Wheelchair Foundation estimates of the 6,000,000,000 plus live in the 156 developing countries in the world. In those developing countries 95% of population need a wheelchair but a dismal 2% actually have access to a wheelchair. In real words, it’s estimated that 121.8 million lives are in NEED of a wheelchair! Most will never have a proper wheelchair for navigating the countryside and villages in which they live. The most common causes for their disabilities include diseases, birth defects and accidents. Landmines alone kill or injure 15,000 to 20,000 people annually, including civilians and soldiers. It is estimated that 110 million landmines remain in at least 70 countries. And even our nearest neighboring country, Mexico, is estimated to have 10 million people with diabetes and related health issues such as vision problems and limb loss.
