The Mobility Worldwide Story

Mobility Worldwide (formally known as Personal Energy Transportation (PET) ), is a ministry whose goal is to bring “The Gift of Mobility” to disabled people in developing countries.  Mobility Worldwide was started in 1994 by a missionary, Rev. Larry Hills and a pastor, Rev. Mel West.  Since then, 25 building sites in the United States and 1 in Zambia have formed, including the San Antonio, Texas site that opened in 2004.

The San Antonio shop began building Mobility Cart parts for affiliate but soon developed our own operation in the backyard workshop of a dedicated volunteer.  We quickly outgrew that shop and then another, and for several years we were building Mobility Carts in a small airport hangar in San Geronimo.  On May 23, 2010, we had a ribbon-rutting ceremony at our current manufacturing site located at 219 E. Nakoma, near the San Antonio Airport.    We were pleased that a representative from Texas State Senator Patricia Van de Putte’s office was present at the ribbon-cutting ceremony and presented us with a Certificate of Congratulations from Senator Van de Putte for the work we are doing “for giving dignity, hope and mobility to millions in need.”
